The Grand Opera House recognises its responsibility to act on the climate crisis and to reduce its impact on the planet.
Actions so far
The Theatre is committed to prioritising sustainable practices throughout the organisation and has undertaken several green initiatives.
The Theatre is powered by Resource Renewable Electricity supplied by Electric Ireland – 100% of all electricity supplied is from a renewable source.
The building is powered by local, renewable electricity with zero carbon emissions sourced from renewable resources.
100% of commercial waste is recycled or recovered, and no waste goes to landfill.
The Theatre’s box office team promotes e-ticketing, reducing printed tickets by around 300,000 per year.
The Theatre works with production companies and venues to plan out the most efficient touring routes for shows to minimise mileage and the environmental impact.
The Theatre’s seasonal brochures are printed on FSC-certified responsibly sourced paper.
