An unmissable show created for the Grand Opera House by Melissa Hamilton, Northern Ireland’s very own globally celebrated ballerina.
With an illustrious professional performing career spanning two decades with The Royal Ballet, at London’s Royal Opera House, and on the most prestigious stages worldwide, Melissa Hamilton appears on her ‘home’ stage for three performances only.
Produced by Hamilton Christou Productions, soulful physicality, breath-taking skill, and emotive beauty take centre stage as Melissa is joined by her fellow esteemed Royal Ballet dance artists, as well as established and rising stars of the English National Ballet, Vienna State Ballet, the New English Ballet Theatre and Ballet Ireland.
This exciting programme showcases excerpts from much-loved ballet classics such as The Awakening Pas de Deux from The Sleeping Beauty, choreographed by Sir Frederick Ashton, both White Swan Adagio and Black Swan from Swan Lake, choreographed by Marius Petipa, Giselle choreographed by Jean Coralli and Jules Perrot, among other favourites.
Audiences can also experience innovative modern contemporary works including a commissioned world premiere collaboration between Melissa Hamilton, New English Ballet Theatre and Northern Ireland Opera, and a Grand Opera House debut for Ballet Ireland who perform All That Remains as an ensemble choreographed by Filipe Portugal.
Melissa is a First Soloist of The Royal Ballet. She won the 2007 Youth American Grand Prix, and that year joined The Royal Ballet as an Artist, promoted to First Artist in 2009, Soloist in 2010 and First Soloist in 2013.
As well as her many roles with The Royal Ballet, Melissa has appeared as a guest with Teatro alla Scala, New National Theatre Tokyo, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Semperoper Ballett, Dresden, and Polish National Ballet.
